Ensemble ‘Weintor 12’ in Mainz’s old town celebrates its topping-out ceremony

With every beam, every wall, our dream grows. Together we are building more than a building – we are creating a home for the future, here on site.

This week the historic residential ensemble ‘Weintor 12’ celebrated its topping-out ceremony in Mainz’s old town. The craftsmen, planners, project developers and partners involved came together in a traditional way and celebrated the new milestone of this unique project.

Over rolls, sausage and wine, everyone listened intently to the topping-out speech from master carpenter Daniel Duch from Holzbau Ammann, which is part of the Molitor/Gemünden group. According to tradition, the topping out ceremony was, above all, an opportunity to thank the craftsmen for their work, which was and is particularly demanding on this construction site. The roof trusses, for example, were a particular challenge for the craftsmen. Particularly important in terms of monument protection is the roof structure of the ‘Schellenberg House’, which is part of the property and whose construction dates back to the 16th to 17th centuries. Preserving the roof structure was a complicated matter: for structural reasons, the historical elements were integrated into a new roof structure. The carpentry team had to compensate for height differences of up to 20 centimeters. Parts of the historic wooden beams will be visible in the living areas.

A unique synergy has emerged – from a historically stylish ambience with top modern furnishings. The entire project will be restored with attention to detail to create a unique living environment for future residents. Another aspect that distinguishes this project is the pioneering building technology. The residential complex is equipped with environmentally friendly energy supply through geothermal energy. So independent of gas and oil – and therefore good for the environment and your wallet! An additional plus point is the underfloor heating with a cooling effect. Due to the energy supply from geothermal energy (earth heat), free cooling technology can be used. This means your underfloor heating ensures wonderfully cool temperatures in summer.

The dream view of the mighty Mainz Cathedral from the upper floors rounds off the exclusivity of ‘Weintor 12’. The topping-out guests also enjoyed this panorama and were visibly impressed.

No wonder that over 70% of the apartments are already taken. Are you still looking for a condominium in the old town of Mainz?
